Up the Mountain!

A friend at work also works as a tour guide taking people up Mount Wellington in Hobart, Tasmania. He took a bunch of us up the mountain for a tour today. It was heaps of fun, here are some snaps I took:

Here are some of my friends from Blue Rocket Productions:

Starting from the left we have Tim, Roseline, Timothy and Clay.

And here is the mountain we conquered!

There was snow everywhere along the track up the mountain! It was great but made things a bit difficult on certain terrain. None of us fell over too badly so it wasn't that bad.

Another group shot. This time we have (starting from the left) Matt (our animation co-ordinator), Roseline, Timothy, Matt & Jo (who are both part of Mt Wellington Walks, the association who took us on the walk).

Yay! More snow!

I was a bit hesitant when approaching this lookout:

hehe. It was all good. Here's part of the view:

And here's our good friend and tour guide, Leigh Craven:

What makes him such a great tour guide is his ability to point at stuff and give lots interesting information.

More sights:

And then when we reached the top, there was snow EVERYWHERE! Yay!

We all had a great time and I'd like to thank Leigh, Jo, Matt and the rest of Mt Wellington Walks for all their organising and hospitality. Top Stuff! If anyone feels like going for a great walk with great views down here in Hobart, then look up Mt Wellington Walks and give Leigh a call.

Fun with Flash

I felt like sitting down and making an animation:

(You'll need the Flash Player plugin to see the animation. Click here to get the plugin.)
Now that I got that out of my head, I can get some sleep.

EDIT: If for some strange reason the animation is really small, try watching a larger version here.

The 'Lousing About' Launch

The book launch for Lousing About went really well! There was a massive turn out of people and we sold heaps of copies. I spent the majority of the launch signing books:

Unfortunately I didn't get many snaps of the event, and the shots I have don't really show how many people were there (all the pics I have are of me signing books, ha ha) but it was heaps of fun even though I was greatly overwhelmed by the whole experience.

It was pretty full on, well, I felt that way and so did Shirley (the author). We were both pretty nervous and amazed at the amount of people there. The penny dropped for me when I saw the book store full of the books and people buying them. I've never had so many people wanting my signature at once! The best part was signing books for the kids who were there. Pretty awesome stuff!

Even though I had a red face and shaking hands (both when greeting people and when writing!) I would love to do something like a book launch again. It was heaps of fun and I really felt I was achieving what I wanted to achieve when I was 10 years old. I would like to thank Maygog Publishing and Shirley Calvert for allowing me the opportunity to illustrate 'Lousing About'. The book is a great concept and covers a very relevant topic for kids and adults: how to get rid of head lice (which is taught in a fun way).

Oh and I'd like to thank Co-op Bookshop for holding the event and for all their help selling the books!

Lousing About Book Launch Invite

Lousing About (a children's book I recently illustrated) will be in stock at The Co-op Bookshop at the University of Tasmania Sandy Bay Campus. The book launch will be on at The Co-op Bookshop at 4:00pm on Tues 19th June, 2007.

The launch details can be found on the Co-op's event's page. There's an email link to their store for RSVPs, so if you want to go it looks as if you will need to contact them. But the launch is on before the store closes so I don't know how they'll keep up with invited guests :).

So yeah if anyone would like to come away from their day jobs to see Shirley Calvert (the author) and myself then we would both greatly appreciate it!

Lousing About

I just received a copy of a children's book I illustrated this year! Here are two snaps:

The book's launch will be held in roughly 14 days time. Yay, my illustrations published to the world! It's a children's book on head lice and what needs to be done to get rid of them. I've been told I made them too cute for killing, hehe.
